Shaw’s Patio Bar & Grill

Shaw’s Patio Bar & Grill is a Magnolia Avenue Icon

1051 W. Magnolia Avenue, Fort Worth TX 76104, 817-926-2116

We’re so happy that everyone has found Magnolia Avenue and made it one of the top dining destinations in the city.. but it was not always so. For many years Magnolia Avenue restaurants were largely dependent upon medical employees from the surrounding hospital district. Long-time Magnolia favorites like B.J. Keefer’s (now Yucatan Taco Stand), Scampi’s (now Shaw’s), King Tut, Spiral Diner, Cat City Grill, Ellerbe, Lili’s & Benito’s did well, but undoubtedly struggled to draw diners to this area, but it has now become a Mecca for the city’s most enthusiastic restaurant patrons. Now joined by Tina’s Cocina, The Flying Carpet, Fixture, Gus’s Fried Chicken, Bentley’s, Paco’s, Nonna Tata, Heim Barbecue, Brewed, The Bearded Lady, Cane Rosso, Hot Damn Tamales, Spice, & Shinjuku Station – Magnolia Avenue has more of the best restaurants clustered together than anywhere in town.

With the herky jerky gentrification of Magnolia, we always knew it was coming. Now Magnolia Avenue is the place to go when you are hungry in Fort Worth. When you head out the door you don’t even have to know what you are hungry for.. just go to Magnolia and park the car in the swell new parking garage and walk until you see what you want, unless it’s Indian cuisine. They don’t have that…yet.

Shaw’s is a Fort Worth Tradition

Husband and wife team David & Ann Shaw are each established and beloved Fort Worth restaurateurs. David’s successful restaurants have included, among others, Abernathy’s, Bluebonnet’s and former locations of Shaw’s. For many years Ann and her parents operated Scampi’s Mediterranean Restaurant & Catering in the current Shaw’s location. They expanded and converted the Scampi’s space into Shaw’s Patio Bar & Grill. The restaurant is a comfortable family friendly hangout with a full bar, local musicians playing on the roomy patio, and excellent food.

Shaws Patio Review
Donna-sized Burger

Our Favorite Things on the Menu

Donna & I eat at Shaw’s usually twice a month.  It’s a reliable regular in our favorite restaurant line-up. Along with an icy cold beer or frothy Margarita I usually get either a healthy salad (with or without grilled chicken). Donna’s favorite combo is the Abernathy Burger with crinkle cut fries and a Diet Coke. The burger is so good that she gets it plain, with just provolone cheese and onions, but there are lots of gourmet burgers on the menu and they are all delicious.

The menu at Shaw’s has something for everyone

Shaw’s has a variety of gourmet hot dogs, quesadillas, chicken fried steak (or chicken), sandwiches and really fresh salads including an outstanding traditional Greek Salad. They recently discontinued the popular fried green beans, but replaced them with fried dill pickles which are equally outstanding. On the menu daily are homemade chili, chicken tortilla soup and a soup selection of the day. Everything at Shaw’s is good.

Get A Salad at Shaw’s

I’m a salad snob. The salads, even the simple ones are always crispy, cold & fresh.
