Historic Fairmount Area
Listed in the National Register of Historic Places The Fairmount/Southside Historic District is the largest such district in the nation. Streetcars provided residents with quick access to downtown when the houses in the Fairmount area were built, mostly between 1905 & 1920. Wood frame bungalows and Four Square style homes are predominant in the area.
Homeowners in the area are subject to strict guidelines regarding the way they build or remodel. The City of Fort Worth and the Fairmount Neighborhood Association work together to provide information about and enforce compliance with the standards which are intended to preserve the special character of the neighborhood while also allowing for revitalization.
